BUPRENORPHINE PRESCRIBING (SB 951)

Effective August 28, 2018, APRNs, Physician Assistants and Assistant Physicians with an authorizing collaborative practice/supervisory agreement may now prescribe up to a 30-day supply of buprenorphine for patients receiving medication assisted treatment for a substance use disorder. To prescribe, APRNs, PAs and APs must complete the required federal training for addiction and have a DEA number that begins with an "X". Questions regarding buprenorphine prescribing should be addressed to BNDD at bndd@health.mo.gov.
