Update Regarding Office of Statewide Electrical Contractor Rules

The Office of Statewide Electrical Contractors’ proposed rules are published in the January 15, 2019 publication of the Missouri Register and can be found on the Secretary of State’s website at https://www.sos.mo.gov/CMSImages/AdRules/moreg/2019/v44n2Jan15/v44n2a.pdf under the bookmark “Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration” beginning on page 305 (39 of 56) of the link above.

Beginning January 15, 2019 there will be a thirty (30) day period of time in which public comment will be accepted during the rule making process before the rules become finalized. Anyone may file a statement in support of or in opposition to a proposed rule with the Office of Statewide Electrical Contractors, PO Box 1335, Jefferson City, MO 65102, via facsimile at (573) 751-6301, or via email to osec@pr.mo.gov.


Update Regarding Office of Statewide Electrical Contractor Rules and Implementation Timeline

Licensure of electrical contractors will begin approximately July 1, 2019. The Office of Statewide Electrical Contractors will place it’s application and a date when it will begin accepting applications on its website, http://www.osec.mo.gov. While the office had hoped to begin licensing January 1, 2019, it did not meet all approvals and Chapter 536, RSMo, requirements for filing emergency rules. Therefore, in order to begin licensing electrical contractors, the office must follow the standard rulemaking process contained in Chapter 536, RSMo, and licensure will begin following that process on or about July 1, 2019.

There will be a period of time in which public comment will be accepted during the rule making process before the rules become finalized. The office will disseminate additional information when the proposed rules are published in the Missouri Register and the comment period begins, which should be on or about January 15, 2019.
