Regulated ProfessionsEmbalmers & Funeral DirectorsAbout the Board The Missouri State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors was established in 1895 by an act of the Missouri General Assembly. The board's rules and regulations require licensure for individuals engaged in the practice of embalming and funeral directing, licensure of funeral establishments and registration of preneed sellers and preneed providers, in order to ensure the good of the public. The board is composed of six members, with five members, possessing a license to practice embalming and/or funeral directing, and one voting public member. Board members are appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate.
